DEUTSCH
Ich habe ein Problem. Morgens höre ich nicht
meinen Wecker.
ENGLISH
I
have a very serious problem. I don’t hear my alarm in the mornings. Today I
really wanted go to my class on time but it was too late. That’s why I decided
to stay at home and cook all day long.
I
prepared carrot soup and gnocchi with mushroom sauce, but I don’t want to tell
you about that. I wanted to write about my first attempt at baking Pop Tarts. It was
not bad! Here are the results:
For
those who don’t know, a Pop Tart is a Kellogg’s prebacked toaster pastry that
can have different sugary fillings (chocolate, cinnamon, strawberries, etc). As
a kid I really liked them. At that time it was possible to buy them in almost
any supermarket but some years later it got a bit difficult to find them. Since
then I don’t eat that often Pop Tarts. Until now! From now on I will try to
bake the perfect Pop Tart. Here is the first recipe I used, which would had been
better if I would had put some yolk between the two dough rectangles to stick
them together.
2 cups flour
1 ½ tbsp sugar
½ tsp salt
180 g butter
1 egg
2 tbsp milk
Strawberry marmalade
powder sugar
½ Lemon
Sprinkles
1 ½ tbsp sugar
½ tsp salt
180 g butter
1 egg
2 tbsp milk
Strawberry marmalade
powder sugar
½ Lemon
Sprinkles
With the food processor or the hands (I used my hands)
mix the flour, the butter, the salt and the sugar until there are still some
lumps of butter. Add the milk and the egg and continue mixing until the dough
is cohesive. Roll it out and cut rectangles (you will need 2 per Pop Tart).
Spread the marmalade on the first rectangles and then cover them with another
dough rectangle. Press the tines of a fork all around the edge of the rectangle.
Bake 10 to 15 minutes at 180° C. Let them cool down and decorate them with
lemon frosting (made out of lemon and powder sugar) and sprinkles.
ESPAÑOL
Tengo un serio problema. Por
las mañanas no escucho mi despertador. Hoy realmente quería llegar a tiempo a mi clase
chispitas.
